- Quality management that controls product movements within the warehouse based on quality inspection criteria — you can also use QIE («Quality Inspection Engine») to map QM processes.
- A very robust tool such as the Warehouse Monitor, which supervisors can use to update and monitor activities and resources. Warehouse information is available online, and the monitor can be configured by the user without ABAP technical knowledge.

These analysis tools are used to measure and evaluate business improvements. You can obtain data such as executed workload, process exceptions, service measures, work orders, warehouse tasks, and workload volume analysis, among other metrics.
Labor & Resource Management
- Another EWM functionality used for managing warehouse resources is Labor Management (LM), which can integrate with SAP HR or external HR systems to facilitate productivity-based pay management in the warehouse. Resources can be evaluated by comparing standard results against operational results. It supports analytical functions available in BI content.
LM provides information for planning and tracking productivity, and also serves as a tool to assign tasks to users in an optimized way — that is, to correctly distribute tasks across the resources available in the warehouse.
LM is especially useful in warehouses that rely heavily on manual processes and where complex tasks are performed daily.
- Resource Management (RM) manages warehouse resources, and this functionality helps avoid manual task assignment to users — it is used in both RF and non-RF environments.
Logistics & Fulfillment
- Shipping and receiving can be implemented with or without Yard Management. It is used to manage inbound and outbound warehouse movements — within EWM you can create a series of elements to control each stage of products entering or leaving the warehouse, such as: control points at inbound/outbound doors, loading/unloading points, and assigning deliveries to transportation units.
Yard Management is also a component used with warehouse receiving and shipping processes, managing truck movements to register their entry and exit.
- Wave Management — in EWM, deliveries can be grouped by user-defined rules using a wide variety of criteria, and these rules can be executed automatically. A «Shipping Cockpit» functionality lets you visualize and plan deliveries and transports on a single screen.
- EWM offers advanced integration for procurement and receipt of products from production, as well as integration with inspection processes to evaluate production samples.
Storage & Automation
- EWM includes a Value-Added Services («VAS») functionality — additional services can be performed on products received or shipped from the warehouse, adding value to the product, such as labeling, building kits, or packing multiple products at work centers, where auxiliary materials can be consumed. VAS is one of the key differentiators that adds value to EWM.
- EWM has a process called «Slotting and Rearrangement» (storage planning), used to plan and execute optimized product storage tasks based on product characteristics and warehouse movements — this optimization is designed to make picking processes more efficient.
- Material Flow System (MFS) enables the configuration and connection of an automated warehouse to EWM. MFS connects to PLCs to retrieve information from warehouse processes. A «warehouse control unit» is not required — telegrams are used instead.
